Summer catch up

THINGS....

I just went to the garage and there was a HUGE nasty spider. I smacked it with hubby's shoe and thousands of baby spiders went running everywhere...Oh my gosh my skin is still crawling....Yuck, nasty, ugh....

The air condition is running and making my house nice and cool. This makes me very happy. Last night was a long hot humid one.

In the past week, my cat broke, my vacuum and my air conditioner all broke. This is not good for the back to school trip to the Lilly Pulitzer store. Wonder if the Lilly store will take a broken Dyson in as trade?

I still have more vacation pictures and blogging to do so stay tuned.

When one thing breaks....

When one thing breaks I guess everything else decides to follow suit. First my vacuum and on the hottest day of the year the air conditioning unit decides to take a dump.....It's HOT........

CAT'S CAT'S AND MORE CATS

Lulu and Morticia
Wednesday
Two sleeping Princesses
Cat Dog
Morticia, Wednesday & Salem
Morticia in Lilly
Salem & Wednesday
Wednesday
I will be taking a brief break from vacation posts to blog about my cat's. There will be more vacation news shortly but I just need to vent about my four little furry friends. We are the proud owners of four cats. Hubby dislikes every single hair on all four of their littles body's. They all feel the same about him. What brings me to this post is that today we found out that Wednesday has diabetes. Yes, now I have a diabetic cat....I did not even realize that cats got diabetes. If you are reading this and have a diabetic cat please reply to this post and let me know how things are working out for you because this all sounds tricky to me. Here is a short personality and history on our furry friends.

1. Cat Dog : The oldest. Old as the hills. Lives outside and protects our front porch. Got his name because he is a cat the size of a small dog. His greatest mission is to gain access into our garage and house. Loves to make the garage door open and shut. Used as a outside toy for our children. Very sweet and loving. Has occasional bouts with congestive heart failure related issues. He is yellow in color.

2. Wednesday : 11 years old. Now my diabetic insulation dependent buddy. This cat is MINE. She tolerates the children and hubby but prefers me to anyone. She is a inside house cat. She was once mistakenly locked in a outside storage building for two weeks in the heat of summer and walked out alive. She has a obsession with dirty clothing and will drag them ALL over the house daily. She knows her name and comes when called. She WILL bite. My advice to people is to leave her alone. She will now be getting a daily shot of insulation and special diet. She will NOT be happy about this and I may loose a arm and be shredded to bits. She is costing us an arm and a leg.. (maybe I could offer the vet the ones she is getting ready to rip off). She is vomiting all over my house as I type because her little body is not used to the insulin. In my opinion she is worth every penny (just don't ask for Hubby's) Wednesday acts like our other inside cats are stupid and beneath her time and attention. She is a yellow Main Coon.

3. Salem : 3 years old. Lives inside. My mother swears we do not own a cat named Salem because nobody EVER lays eyes on her but us. She WILL always hide when company arrives. She also belongs to me. She sleeps curled up with me nightly. Her and cat number four (Morticia) are buddies and like to aggravate number 2 with silly games and hostile take downs. Cats 3 & 4 groom each other daily. She attends every single bathroom break I take and demands to be petted while I sit on the potty. She is very down to earth. She is as black as night.

4. Princess Morticia : 2 years old. Lives inside. This cat REALLY believes she is a princess. She belongs to Lulu and lives in her room. She ONLY likes Lulu. She wears specially made Lilly Pulitzer dresses. She believes she is to good to use a litter box and prefers to sneak and use the rugs any chance she gets. She believes her behind is to good for cat litter and likes the soft touch of my rugs.... Lulu is allowed to do anything she likes with this cat, dress her up, push her in a carriage, and so on. If cat's could speak she would tell the rest of us to go to hell daily. She has that look on her face every time she runs into anyone other than Lulu. She sleeps on Lulu's bed and loves and kneads on her covers and blankets. Her and cat number 3 are partners in crime and like to sabotage number 2 . She is a Blue Point Himalayan.

All of them are half crazy......but I love them....

Beach Review - part one

We left this town, we left this town, we left this town with tremendous speed....(remember the book mom) We were off to the North Carolina Coast. Our trip started with a short overnight stay in Wilmington with friends. We ate and talked until late into the night and the children ran in circles...The next day we headed off to a cozy spot between Emerald Isle and Atlantic beach. Our cute cottage backed up to the golf course and was between the sound and the ocean. In this segment I will include some random beach photos of the family but check back soon for more details on the rest of our week...

MARTHA'S WHAT????

Lulu informed me today that Martha was booooooring......We may have to move from redneckville very soon to prevent any further damage....

NOTE TO ALL MOTHERS....

Note to all mothers: A standard garage door WILL support the weight of a 33 pound 4 year old. It WILL pull them up 3 to 4 feet into the air........You WILL panic upon turning to see this happen.

FOURTH OF JULY WEDDING

We attended a wedding on July the fourth. Both of the kiddos were in the wedding party. I was excited about this because it was a nice change from the usual fireworks and overeating we do on the fourth.

This was a really neat wedding, the couple used some unique ideas and that too was as refreshing as the date.

The venue itself was really cool with old creaky hardwoods, and a old uptown feel. The brides dress was made from silk her dad picked up while he was in India. It was gorgeous...As the grooms men came into the ceremony "the boys are back in town" played. Great comic relief from the standard uptight entrance usually made. The parents read poems, they wrote their own vows, and sealed a time capsule.

While the wedding party had photos, appetizers were served and guest mingled. After the bride and groom entered dinner was served. Then came a night of dancing. Baby boy snagged the garter because all the other single guys had their hands in their pockets. The cake was yummy and had the years they had been together on each layer. My children danced them selfs silly.

Some of the center pieces were fish in unusual glass bowls. Needless to say we now have "Lightening" and "Isabella" the fish living at our house. As the happy couple made their great escape sparklers were lit and used to wave them away. It was all a lot of fun....

Happy Birthday

For some strange reason Blogger would only let me upload one set of photos at a time so the Birthday blog is in two parts.

Happy Birthday Lulu part two

Cowboy hats and big pink bows don't always mix......

It is really hard to believe that Lulu is eight years old. I seems like yesterday that I labored for almost sixteen hours while she took her time making her grand entrance into the world. Happy Birthday baby girl you are so wonderful and we love you very much.

Above are photos of her birthday party. We did the horse theme this year. It was a root in toot in good time. Thank you Nonna for making the birthday tutu.

Big black hat

I thought these turned out cute

UPDATE

IT'S BEEN AWHILE....

We have been busy so I thought I would do a quick photo update to get you up to speed on where we have been and what we have been doing....
Lulu's class egg drop, her contraption survived the 85 foot drop from the fire truck.

Trip to the "IN LAW's" that ended with a broken axle on hubby's trailer. I guess that's what you get when you try to pull a trailer full of power wheels and bikes with a Volvo....
No training wheels, go Lulu, go Lulu

Summer is here and we love us some rainbow flops...Me and the kiddos live in them during the summer...
I cought her making him play like he was a dog and jump through the hoop. She is seven and already talking boys into jumping through hoops....
Last day of second grade, in her Lilly , just like the one below of the first day of second grade....Lilly on the first day lilly on the last day. Her hair grew a bunch this year....

Theory of a Dead Mans lead singer is my new hottie....He is so cute.....or should I say sexy....

Germ freaks DON"T do poopie water

The words no mother ever wants to hear "momma, momma it sploded" (exploded) I knew it was not good....I was lead to the hall bathroom where poopie water was flowing freely from the toilet. Nasty poopie water all over my bathroom about half a inch deep. I just shut the door and pretended like it never happened. I sat in the office for about fifteen minutes and thought about what to do. GERM FREAKS DO NOT LIKE POOPIE WATER. After mustering up a plan I gathered old towels hubby uses to wash the car, several trash bags, and a old mop and I tackled it with trash bags tied around my legs and a gallon of Clorox. Now my nose and eyes burn from Clorox fumes and I have scrubbed until I am sweating like a pig.....This was NOT in the mommy job description......

To old to party

Years ago Hubby and I could party till the cows came home but these days if we do we pay dearly. Four in the morning is way to late to go to bed if you are thirty five years old. Saturday night we attended a GREAT Memorial Day / Anniversary party. Below is Hubby, Kelly and Carrie, view of inside the tent, and Clint and Hubby. Good food, good drink, good times, but feeling sad on Sunday.

A toenail and the Tooth Fairy

Remember the strep toenail Baby Boy had awhile back? The strep is all cleared up but where it had invaded the toenail it caused the nail itself to start to fall off. Baby Boy wined and complained for about a week because it "wiggled". Saturday he came running to the kitchen and said "hey mom, I picked my toenail off, ya think the Tooth Fairy will leave me anything for it"? I thought I would die laughing. I told him no the Tooth Fairy did not do toenails and to throw that nasty thing away. Good try Baby Boy....He is always up to something and like I have said before he is so darn sneaky. Below are some recent photos of him that portray his personality. I especially like him in his sisters recital costume as a penguin and as a Teletubbie in Lulu's doll stroller.

Recital Time

Last weekend was Lulu's recital. She was in the Peppermint Twist for tap and a Penguin in the "big" ballet. She did so good and we are very proud of her. Of course being the spoiled child that she is, she got lots of prizes for her performance. Nonna and Paw Paw got her a tap shoe charm for her charm bracelet and flowers, money from aunt and uncle, flowers and the Lilly Pulitzer activity book from us. She just ate it all up.

MORE TICKETS WON....

Hubby won ticket to see Bruce Springsteen tomorrow night. I will take it as a good date night, good quality time with hubby. I must say one thing though, (and it's goina get ugly) Why in the hell couldn't they have been FLEETWOOD MAC TICKETS??????? I will stop now and go back to normal programing. Sorry but I had to get that off my chest. I guess now I will just sit here and wait on my Rolex.....

Thursday, April 30, 2009

FLEETWOOD MAC TICKETS ARE CHEAPER...

I have two materialistic items that I have been wanting for some time. Fleetwood Mac tickets and a Rolex. When the Mac was within driving distance I hinted and hinted for tickets. Hubby ignored my very froward hints and I did not get to go....Today I emailed him at work to inform him (in writing, no more hints) of these two things. I ended in saying that he should have gone with the Fleetwood mac tickets because they would have been much cheaper, but due to the choice, I now would be expecting the Rolex.

She WON !!!!!

Our favorite local radio station had a contest on Saturday and gave away tickets to see Taylor Swift. To win you had to sing Taylor Swift karaoke. There was about ten other people in the contest ranging in age from 7 (LuLu being the youngest) to 20. My baby girl sang her heart out and won. I was so proud of her and now we get to go see Taylor Swift. She is SO excited.

I am going to add a addition to my 100th post.

No more bad dreams

My children complain of bad dreams. No amount of talking and explaining helped. They feed off of the others complaints. Problem solved, "the dream catcher". I know they are tacky to look at and I found the smallest ones possible but they believe in them and they have helped. Both children have four poster beds and I just slid it down one of the post. So my advice to any mom's dealing with the excuse of bad dreams (to get in the bed with mommy) is to try this method. It has helped tremendously at my house. Baby boy did tell me today that sometimes he just "had" to get in my bed because his dreams were so big that they would not fit through the catcher.

Random things I need to say

I have several random things to talk about.

1. I accidentally deleted my blog list. I needed to update anyway so I will be doing that soon.

2. My buddy over at Preppy-Coastee-Mommy is having her first giveaway so make sure and check her out.

3. My sweet Mommy got me a prize today. These GREAT Chanel sunglasses. Thank you Mom...(Hubby said I looked like a bug with them on but what does he know)

4. Why would Noggin (kids television channel) have a show called "Toot and Puddle"? You don't even want me to go there. Yes, the pigs are cute but their names remind me of what happens in the bathroom.

OUR STREP CULPRIT

As I posted several days ago, we have had more strep in this household that you could shake a stick at...Lulu has had it twice (since February) Hubby and I both had it last weekend and wouldn't you know it Lulu started running a fever again last night. Off to the Doctor on a Saturday Morning and of course, she has it again....I mentioned to the Doctor that Baby Boy was yet to get it but had a nasty infected toe that started out as a ingrown toe nail. Doc. inspects the toe and immediately prepares to do a strep test on him. Baby boy was less that thrilled that he was getting a strep test as Sissy's doctors appointment. Keep in mind Baby Boy is fine and dandy and in the process of destroying the doctors office. Well, wouldn't you know it....Baby Boy has strep....So, he is either a carrier or a symptom less child. Either way he is our culprit...He is the one that has been sharing his strep and we did not even realize it. He also has a strep toe. In case you did not realize it, the feet are prime target for strep to venture into and cause a infection. Gross....Now both children are on antibiotics, I finish mine tomorrow and Hubby just opted for the shot last week. Keep your fingers crossed that this will rid our house of this nasty strep....

St. Paddy's Madness

I had two of the CUTEST outfits for my children to wear today. LuLu in a green shamrock dress with bows on the shoulders (think of the Valentines dress) and Baby Boy in a authentic Ireland rugby. I made them stand still and got lots of cute shots using my NEW camera. Well, guess what, I do not know how to work my new camera very well and took all of the shots as videos. No photos to put on the blog. I am so mad, I have tried everything I can think of and there will just be no photos from St Paddy's Day. Since I have no cute kid photos of today I will just leave you with some nice green clover.

Twenty little toes

I found a cool site that features people's feet in various locations. the-gypsy-feet.blogspot.com
Check out "Oh Carolina" for my favorite twenty piggies.

Round and Round and Round we go and where Mr. Strep throat stops nobody knows...I just want him out of my house...Baby Girl (several times this year) then Hubby and now me. I will be back as soon as this wheel of strep leaves, I finish "The Devil in the Junior League" and get my household back in order. I have a lot to say, just give me a few days.

The Macs

This blog has touched my heart, please go there and pray for this child.

At Christmas she was fine and now she is taking chemo. She is under a year old and is cute as a button but is very, very sick.

If someone can tell me how to make a button for blogs I will be happy to add one. THIS FAMILY NEEDS PRAYERS.....Lets all get the word out and get more people praying for her....(I am just not sure of how buttons ect. all work) Lets spread the word.

Oh where, oh where, have I been????

Twice yearly I work for a lady that does a HUGE children's consignment sale. I am in charge of the toy section, so all of the toys you see (and many you don't) I place in their spots. Plus work throughout the sale. It's a fun job and I can shop early plus get paid well. It gets me out of the house at night for several weeks and brings me good adult interaction. So there you have it, my moonlighting fun for several weeks...My posting may be sparse for a short while but I will be back.

It snowed

Finally it snowed....here's the proof

Bread and Milk

Our strung out hyper weather people and calling for snow in redneckville. Around here everyone knows when this happens the local grocery stores are out of bread and milk. (this means the grocery stores in the surrounding big towns) Can you guess what the local Wal mart here in redneckville is out of ??????? Marlboro lights and Bud light....No kidding, I went to get some dish liquid and Tide and I was the only person in the store without a case of Bud, Marlboro's and five frozen pizzas. The check out girl even said that the sale of beer was up by one hundred percent.

How did I end up in this town??????

Dinner

Dinner was amazing. I forgot to mention in the recipe that you can use mozzarella cheese on the sandwich. Very easy and a great addition to my recipe collection.

I feel better

I feel better about myself with no make up.......

WHAT'S IN MY SLOW COOKER TODAY

A friend recently shared this recipe with me and I cannot wait until tonight to try it.

One slow cooker

2-3 lb. rump roast

1 can of beef broth

1 can of French onion soup

1 bottle of beer

salt & pepper

cook on high most of day

shred meat, place on French bread, serve with side of Au-Jus (will be broth in slow cooker)

sounds yummy to me....

How I am ...right now

At this moment in my life I am a procrastinating perfectionist suffering from insomnia. Sums it up. Now here at 2:00 am I am forcing myself to bed because my children will get up at the crack of dawn. Thank you and goodnight.

Frank

Oh my gosh, on the way to the In Laws we passed FRANK....Baby boy is OBSESSED with the movie "Cars". (most days we MUST only call him "Lightning McQueen) As soon as I saw this tractor sitting in a field I knew we were getting ready for a pit stop.

Just a few more Christmas pics

Top photo, Lulu and cousin, the eating of the ginger bread house (notice baby boy has the entire roof) Just a snap shot of Lulu I thought turned out good, the two bottom are during the Christmas morning blow up.

Christmas and New Years update (just a bit late)

Things have been hectic, you know the routine, take down all of the Christmas decor, clean out toys to make room for all the new ones, clean house and generally just get back into the swing of things. This year all of these task seem to have taken forever. Procrastination because of perfectionism is one of my BIG problems.

The holidays were wonderful and I am truly blessed. I have great family and friends and even got along with the In Laws this year. (apparently it was my Sister in Laws turn to be a problem with the MIL this year)

News Years Eve was also fun, we hosted a small party of close friends of my parents and played cards until 1:00 am or so.

The photo above is of the Christmas morning "blow up". Lulu got her pink DS and baby boy got all the usual boy trucks, cars and legos. (plus a ton of other various things to make sure they were spoiled just a little more).

MERRY CHRISTMAS (AGAIN)

For some reason I am really in the mood to blog....I cannot seem to stop. Believe me I have a million things to do and I cannot get off the computer. Maybe I am avoiding what I really should be doing. Just wanted to to share this with you...Merry Christmas from our Pink Eyes... (really sorta pink and green) Ha Ha...Better than the dreaded stomach flu though...

Merry Christmas

I had my blog all set up for a nice Christmas ending (the post with the pink and green ornaments) but this morning I felt the urge to vent about my husbands inability to keep up with his keys and messed up my order so I will do another Christmas post. I took this shot from one of my trees this morning. So again, I will say "MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL" (and again and again if I don't stop blogging)

HAVE YOU SEEN MY KEYS???

"HAVE YOU SEEN MY KEYS"??? This is the question that plagues my husband's life daily....My response is always the same "NO" The man cannot keep up with his keys. I need a tee shirt for him that reads "have you seen my keys". If anyone knows where I can get one please let me know.

I just want to wish everyone in the whole wide world a Happy Holiday Season...

Christmas Card Photo

Here is the photo I used for our Christmas cards this year. I cannot believe I found one where I deemed myself decent enough to mail out to the world.

Christmas Fun

I thought these were funny

Lulu's earrings

I saw these on Sippycups blog and thought they were precious so I had to get some for Lulu. They are for Valentines day and that will be around the time she can remove her starter earrings and sport her new ones. Perfect...

1922 FAMILY PHOTO

The great thing about the internet is that it allows you to find information in which you might have never found without it. I found these on Ancestry . The man pictured above is my great great grandfather. The photo was taken in 1922.

What did you have to eat????

My Thanksgiving table (notice new color on walls-I just love it) We had this table in the dining room and another in the kitchen. We had twelve people. Every year I get to use my Amber Depression Glass goblets. They just look like Thanksgiving. Love the fall colors.

From reading many of your blogs I noticed a huge variation of menus. Some sounded good, some sounded a bit strange. Here is what we had in the deep south....

Thanksgiving menu 2008

Fried turkey
Cornbread dressing
Mashed potatoes
Green beans and Corn
Sweet potatoes casserole
Baked macaroni and Cheese
Cole slaw
Deviled eggs
Lima beans
Rolls
Sweet tea
Pecan pie
Pumpkin roll
Carrot cake

LILLY PULITZER WAREHOUSE SALE

I may be to far down south to make it to the sale BUT, I have a great friend who went today and gave me the play by play over the cell...Sounds like she got some great deals (with a few for me, of course). Lots of love to all who live close enough to attend-I'm so jealous.

WEDNESDAY ADDAMS AND BRAD PAISLEY

Many of you will remember my post on how my BFF looks like Wednesday Addams. Well, just the other night while watching the CMA awards I had another moment where it occurred to me that her husband looks just like Brad Paisley. So as a follow up on her story I posted a photo of her husband compared to Brad Paisley. This means Wednesday Addams is married to Brad Paisley. How cute....

SEE YA LATER LILLY

This weekend I finally had the chance to switch over my summer closet to the winter goods. It was a all day daunting task. It should have been done long before now but time was not on my side. In the children's playroom there is a extra closet so the off season stuff gets smashed into that closet. So for now the Lilly will sleep peacefully until the warm weather returns.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY BOY

Tuesday was baby boy's fourth birthday...Happy birthday to my sweet little boy...I will say he can make a preppy momma proud. He wanted a Volvo birthday cake and a Dyson vacc. for his birthday. He went to the mall for a build a bear and then to spend the afternoon with daddy at Volvo. We had a small family gathering where he got his Volvo cake and Dyson that is just like mommies. This thing was impossible to find and had to be purchased through eBay. We had a blast and he had a great birthday.

EXCUSE ME

Why does everyone including ABC news keep saying,

McCain Graciously Concedes to Obama, the Nation's First Black President

Half of his family was white, therefore making him multi racial. Not black not white but multi-racial.

Baby boy makes first purchase on ebay

This morning I found a pair of Lelli Kelly tennis shoes on ebay that I wanted for Lulu. My maximum bid was 20.06. I placed my bid and went on about my day. (leaving the screen up so I could check it later) Baby boy was playing in my office but I took little notice and next thing I knew he was playing one of his games on the computer. Later I checked my bid and I had won the shoes for 36.00. I got worried that I was losing what little is left of my mind. Even considered that maybe our resident ghost was playing tricks for Halloween. Talked to ebay , no help and still no clue. Later I decided to check my deleted emails and found a bid confirmation where my maximum bid was 25,588.00. Baby boy is very good on the computer and can point and click, change screens and start his own games, AND apparently, buy his sister shoes. She is excited and even thanked him at dinner. I have got to watch this little boy, he is sneaky. He will be four next month and is full of energy and mischief. The included photo really captures his personality.

COLDS

I have a darn cold. Wonder where I can get one of these? I could put it to good use.

SLEEPING IN CHURCH

On the way home from church today I asked Hubby how many times he fell asleep and he said only once. Then he informed me that if at any point he had to sit with his head down and eyes closed for more than 30 seconds he would be asleep. This does not shock me because the man falls asleep at stop lights on the way home from work and awakes to the horn of the car behind him. When we go to bed I swear in less than 30 seconds he is snoring. How in the world does he go to sleep that fast? His dad does it and so does my son. Must be something with their genes.

I just received my first case of spam on my comments section. Do these people have a life? My guess would be no... So from now on my comments will be moderated. Lesson learned and no more crazy spam for me but I did catch my parents eating it last week...ugh...
